Day Six by Raymond Troyer
The first time I awoke,
My eyes could scarce contain;
The gorgeous birds all singing,
The whole earth without pain.
The trees were laden with fruit,
With grassy slopes and vales;
The sweetest fragrance of flowers,
The sea was filled with whales.
The hollows filled with bees,
The forest filled with deer;
A thousand flying insects,
All animals without fear.
A voice that talked to me,
The night sky studded with lights;
A moon that smiled at me,
What awesome and beautiful sights.
I picked a hundred names,
For animals one to each;
I was totally overwhelmed,
But all was out of reach.
Again I fell asleep,
This time very deep,
The One who worked on me,
Said, "this rib you can keep."
When I opened up my eyes,
Alas! a gorgeous MAM,
By now you ought to know .
I am the first Adam.
Day Three by Raymond Troyer
The first time I awoke,
My eyes could scarce contain;
I'm nestled in a manger,
My covering is swaddling plain.
I hear the donkeys hee haw,
The animals stare in quest;
The wise men bring their gifts,
While Mary does her best.
We took a trip to Egypt,
And stayed till Herod died;
The Devil tried to kill me,
The second time I cried.
In Joseph's carpenter shop,
I spent my youthful years;
I studied and read the Torah,
With cryings and solemn tears.
A dip in Jordan waters,
You are my beloved Son;
A confrontation with Satan;
Is not what I call fun.
I sweat blood in the garden,
"They'll nail me to a cross,"
When I cried "IT IS FINISHED,"
It looked like all was loss.
My soul went down to hades,
They wrapped my bloody bod;
When I awoke this time,
They saw the face of God.
Go into all the world,
Tell 'em I'm the Lamb;
By now I'm sure you know,
I am the last Adam.
